The excavations of Boscoreale
Agriculture was very important in Roman times and the excavations near Boscoreale show an ancient farm that gives a lot of information. Visitor can see the rooms where agricultural products were processed, where wine was produced, etc. Kitchen is very interesting and there are many important items, such as a cistern. In the courtyard of this farm a cart used to transport goods was found. A real vineyard was recreated.
If you want to understand a civilization, you should try to know the life of common people, the economy and this is why this rural villa is very interesting and useful.

A visit of the archaeological area of Pompeii should start from Porta Marina which is in the direction of the sea.
This gate that seems a tower built into the old walls had two passageways: one for the pedestrians and the other for the animals and the means of transport. In a niche in the wall there is a terracotta statue representing Minerva, the protectress of the gate.
