This was the house of a banker in Pompei, who probably got very rich by lending money to folk who had to repair their houses due to the earthquake in 62 d.c. His rich archives have been found and we can re-construct 10 years of his activity (from 52 d.c to 62 d.c) and to find out his economical status, selling land or slaves and payment receipts.
A very interesting archeological site are 2 affrescos (one stolen and one is at the National Museum of Naples)which give us a detailed account of the disastrous earthquake.
