The baths of the Forum obviously get their name due to the fact they were closeby and in the centre of daily life.  Its position gave its importance, if not only because people could easily been seen, but it was a place where they could be protected after the earthquake.  The building was divided into 2 parts, one was for males and the other for the females, both had separate entries.  There are still some  partly visible decorations.

The Stabian Baths

Are probably the oldest in Pompeii and cover about 3,500 mq . Again different sections for males and females had separate entries.
